About AMVETS Post 2000 - Warm Mineral Springs, Florida
AMVETS are American Veterans from all of America's Armed Forces.
The organization was founded on December 10, 1944 and was the first
World War II organization chartered by Congress. Membership in AMVETS is
open to anyone who is currently serving, or who has honorably served in
the U.S. Armed Forces from World War II to the present time. It includes
the National Guard and Reserves.
The AMVETS has been involved with public policy as it relates to
national defense, services for homeless veterans, adequate funding for
the Department of Veterans Affairs, retirement pay, disability
compensation, veterans employment and training, POW/MIA accountability,
and flag protection. The members are involved in preserving freedoms,
supporting veterans and active military members, assisting veteran's
families, and in promoting and serving in community projects that
support the lives of all Americans.
The AMVETS Post 2000, in Warm Mineral Springs, Florida, was
chartered in 2000. Since then the Post members have been involved with
many community projects and events.
The membership has grown from the original charter of 30 to over
160 members.
The Warm Mineral Springs AMVETS 2000 family organization is made up
of several groups related to the American Veterans. The veterans make
up the AMVETS. The wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, stepdaughters,
and granddaughters of the American Veteran make up the Ladies Auxiliary.
The male children and grandchildren of the American Veterans make up the
Sons of AMVETS. The Junior AMVETS are the 5 to 17 year old children and
grandchildren of the the American Veterans. All these family subgroups
make up the AMVETS Post 2000 organization.
All veterans are invited to join. All members are requested to get involved.
